ENDOWMENTS

Endowment Committee Report 2025:

The Endowment Committee worked from January through March.  The committee consisted of Melody Burdekin, Barbara Presser, Nancy Schoenberger, Diane Walker-Torkelson and me.
Fourteen organizations submitted grants. We divided the grants up among the 5 members and did our due diligence looking into each application.
In March, we made our decisions over a zoom meeting. The following organizations received grants:

Spirit of NYS:   to support 55 students who are either homeless or impoverished, to keep them in school
Happy Birthday Cha Cha Cha:  to be used for birthday bags filled with socks, underwear and books for impoverished students in the city schools.  Everyone deserves a Happy Birthday.
Shepard House:  to be used to furnish furniture for the living room of the hospice house
Association for Children’s Creativity:  to be used for the Magic Dragon magazine which supports students in the city schools to share their stories and artwork.
Junior Achievement of Central Upstate NY:  to be used to support a Young Women’s Leadership Summit
Corn Hill Navigation:   to be used for two speakers on two charter boat trips that ties Women’s Rights with the Erie Canal
Education Success Foundation:  to support the activities of EnCompass: Resources for Learning and The Norman Howard School.
Museum of Transportation:  to be used to help restore a Way Station that sits on the property in Rush.
Historic Pittsford:  to be used to purchase electrical boxes and motion lights as they upgrade the Little House .
Pittsford CommUNITY, Inc:  to be used to help sponsor the Martin Luther King Living the Dream Series.

We also gave $500 to the Pittsford Food Cupboard as well as being able to present two Scholarships to a student at Mendon and Sutherland.
