The Following Grants were awarded: Association for Encouragement of Children’s Creativity. The organization publishes Magic Dragon, a quarterly educational print magazine of children 12 years old and younger. Their mission is to encourage children to express themselves creatively, inspire teachers and recognize achievement in schools. They requested funds for one-year subscriptions for Rochester City School District art teachers who use the magazine in their class rooms. Funded: $1,150
Home Start Home. The organization provides services for families who have experienced horrible violence and trauma. They wish to provide a book called In the Wind which is a collection of positive affirmation and crayons so children can illustrate the book. They feel this will help heal some of the trauma they have been exposed to. Funded: $750
Horizons at Harley. Horizons at Harley partners with students, families and schools from the city of Rochester to improve academic success through summer learning and inspire a lifelong joy in learning. Rochester ranks 1st in overall poverty & child poverty. The program focuses on reading, math with STEAM subjects. More than 95% of their graduates have graduated from high school. Funded: $1,300
Junior Achievement of Central Upstate New York. Junior Achievement prepares students to manage their finances, develop job skills that are the foundation of economic self-sufficiency. They serve females in grades 7-12 who reside in the city of Rochester. The program is technology based. They are looking to expand to a new YWCP location. Funded: $1,000
Junior League of Rochester, Inc. The organization is committed to developing the potential of women and improving community. The grant will be used to purchase diapers and diapering supplies which can cost up to $110.00 per month. Diapers are not covered by government assistance. Babies that are left too long in soiled diapers are exposed to potential health risks. The Junior league is the only diaper bank in Monroe County. Funded: $750
Pittsford Youth Services. Pittsford Youth Services provides crisis intervention, counseling and therapeutic services, preventive educational services for youth. The organization is seeking a summer program, Camp Heartstrings. Camp Heartstrings is a 3-day summer camp for children 7-18 held in July for children who have lost a loved one. Funds are used for food, supplies, resource books, a family dinner and photo albums. Funded: $1,000
Spiritus Christ Prison Outreach. The Women’s Empowerment Program is designed to help women make a successful transition back into society after release from prison and prevent them from ending up homeless and unable to provide for themselves. The Jennifer House is a safe and friendly home where they reside during transition. The funds will be targeted for Phase 1-Stabilization, providing women with support when they first enter the home, typically with nothing but the clothes on their back. Funded: $750
BSA Troup 11-G Scouts, BSA. The BSA Troup 11-G is comprised entirely of girls. The goal of the troop is to travel further distances, engage in more challenging camping excursions and conquer the outdoors by investing in a tow-behind trailer. The trailer will allow for travel using fewer vehicles for transporting the gear needed for the camping excursions. Funded: $250
The Willie Bee Foundation. The mission of the organization is to ease the burden of families when their child is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. Families are referred to The Willie Bee Foundation by their medical providers. The life -threatening illness include pediatric cancer, heart disease, neurological or perhaps genetic disorders. They are looking to provide respite care for two local families at a summer cottage at a local lake. Funded: $1,550
